Why is Fort Wagner remembered?
Fort Wagner was a Confederacy fort built in South Carolina and considered one of the strongest Confederacy positions. It is famous for the failed attacks in 1862 by the Union Army, where many soldiers were killed, including men from the 54th Massachusetts Regiment.
