Wood Blocks
Woodblocks different shapes and sizes.
Perhaps some parents could be asked to help; those who are woodwork hobbyists or carpenters, by donating some off cuts of wood, and help with making some cuts or holes in the wood, for different tuning.
The children could sand and paint their wood blocks to incorporate music with art.
Below is a link demonstrating woodblock percussion, it is quite a long video, but worth the view, I thought it a good example of group performance, that could be simplified for children.
Note the high block in the middle that keeps the main rhythm throughout.

Shakers
Shakers can be made by filling different containers like milk cartons and any size or shape of plastic bottle or jar.
Fill the containers with:
rice, dried beans, different legumes, sand, or fine gravel.
Note: it is not a good idea to use glass jars, in case they are dropped.
Containers can be decorated by painting, or covering with recycled birthday or Xmas wrapping paper.

ClapSticks
Some 2.5cm wood dowl round cut to approximately 15 cm long.
For an Art activity children could smooth of the cut ends with sandpaper and decorate their own set with acrylic paints.
Alternatively some they could bring similar sized sticks from home or out-bush they find and a wood file could be used to smooth the rough surface. These would vary in size and shape, and therefore make a variety of tones when clapped together.

Glass Bottles With Water
Glass Bottles of the same size and type and shape.
Filled with different levels of water for different tuning.
This would make a good exercise for Band 4 Level.
If the school could obtain a variety of tuning forks, the water bottles could be filled (tuned) to each tuning fork.
