Who was Alfred Wegener?
He believed that all of the continents were once connected and have separated and drifted apart over time.
What is plate tectonics?
Plate tectonics is the geological process and study of the movement, collision and division of continents, earlier known as continental drift.
What was the name of the supercontinent?
Alfred Wegener called the supercontinent Pangea which means "all lands".
What are transform plates?
Two plates slide past each other. But the movement is not smooth due to friction between the rocks of the two plates. Therefore, sometimes the two plates would get 'stuck' and lock together. When there is sufficient buildup of pressure, rocks in the plates break and get jerked apart. This results in earthquakes.

What is a fault or a transform boundary?
Transform-Fault Boundaries are where two plates are sliding horizontally past one another.
What are divergent plates?
Two or more plates that are pulling away from each other sometimes causing masses of land to separate from each other.

What are convergent plates?
Two plates are moving together and the crust is destroyed and recycled back into the Earth as one plate dives under another. Mountains and volcanoes are often found where plates converge.
There are 3 types of convergent plate boundaries:
Oceanic-Continental Convergence
Oceanic-Oceanic Convergence
Continental-Continental Convergence

How far apart do the continents move each year?
Every year the continents shift about 2 centimeters.
How many continents are there?
Seven; Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.
