Battle of the Marne- First battle fought in the war (France against Germany)
Battle of Verdun- Ment to kill french military; both sides lost men
Battle of the somme- Major assault for Allied powers; both lost men nothing was accomplished.
Battle of Ypres-British offensive war;Disaster for british. After 3 yrs of fighting nothing changed.
