bail fianza - legal money that is given to a court when someone is allowed to stay out of prison until their trial. If they do not return for the trial, the court keeps the money
post bail (=pay it):
He posted bail for her, so she’s OK.
set bail (=decide on the amount of bail):
The judge set bail at $50,000.
be released/freed on bail:
She was freed on bail pending an appeal.
