If you don't have a music collection, you can also make your own ringtones through your phone. Most cellphones have a recording feature that allows you to record a portion of a song that you want to use as your ringtone. You can even use a free audio editing program to edit the MP3 file to emphasize the part you want to use. Free audio editing programs include Audacity and Windows Sound Recorder. Once you've finished recording the song, you can upload it to your phone via a data cable or wirelessly. Once it's ready, your recipient can choose to designate it as a ringtone and receive it on their phone.
