This shifting of letters by a fixed number instantly reminds me of experimenting with Caesar ciphers in school while also being obsessed with the Connections Game for word patterns. I once encrypted notes for a group project, but we forgot the shift value and had to brute force every possibility to decode our own instructions. Good lesson in key management.
