Reasons for leaving Ireland:
- England's wartime economy(=Kriegswirtschaft) (1939-45) and post-war boom attracted many Irish people to immigrated to England.
Other emigrants, Catholic and Protestant, Nationalist and Unionist, might leave Ireland because of political unrest.
Irish workers played a central part in the time after the ww2.
By September 1942, there were 55,200 Irish workers registered with the police.
