Charlotte Beck is a young girl visiting her grandfather in London when she begs her stepmother, Gennie, to allow her to be introduced to society. Although Charlotte is technically too young for being presented, Colonel William F. It is in truth his twin brother, Alex, who often takes Martin's place at social functions when Martin is otherwise engaged. This evening he is out slumming dressed as a stable hand.
Charlotte realizes the possible embarrassment she has caused and apologizes to everyone concerned. She further embarrasses herself and her uncle by performing in the Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West show. Her embarrassment winds up in the newspaper where it further inspires other ladies of wealth to become a part of Cody's show.

Characters of The Inconvenient Marriage of Charlotte Beck
Charlotte Beck is a young woman that young women of any era could relate to. She is independent and knows what she wants. She strives for her independence and gives paper writing services to get what she wants.
Alex Hambly is a great male protagonist. He has the strength necessary to balance Charlotte's strength but also has a gentle side as well. He also knows what he wants and strives to find success in his desires as well.
The supporting characters lend themselves to the story. Charlotte's parents are indulgent, but also want her to be the best that she can be.
