- Most common Ig
- Found in the blood and can enter tissue in regions of inflammation
     - Can cross placenta and confer imunity to fetus
- Binds to Ag very srongly

- 5 units of Ab (pentamer)
- stays in the blood (moves less freely that IgG) and often attached to the surface of B cells
- First Ab produced upon infection - very good at aggregating Ag

- 2 units of AB (dimer)
- "Secretory Ab" - found in body secretions
- Functions to protect mucosal surfaces (ie. GI tract of newborns)

* Function unknown

- Found on the surface of certain immune system cells (mast cells, basophils)
- Bind to Ag and release histamine (attracts complement and phagocytes)
