What are peanut worms (phylum), where are they found and why are they called peanut worms.
Phylum Spuncula. found in muddy bottoms, rocks and corals or hide in empty shells. all are marine living mostly in shallow water. the long anterior portion contains a mouth and a set of small lobes or branching tentacles. when these are pulled into the remaining portion of the body the worm becomes compact and looks like a peanut.
