The screen for one of the Macs went all grey! What should I do?
First, try seeing if one of the network cables attached to the Mac have been unplugged. Plug in the cable and restart the computer. If the issue persists, submit a tickets at helpdesk.library.ubc.ca. Select General IT Support > IT (PC, Mac, A/V, Phone, or General) > Mac support from the 'I need help with" drop down.

What do I do if the computer freezes and I have documents that I want to save on it?
Try to trouble shoot the problem (make sure cables are plugged in, etc.) Do not restart the computer, since all files will be erased if you do.
- If it is on a PC, call Systems (604-822-6275)
- If it is on a Mac, call Mats (604-822-1872)
If it's the weekend and the student is willing to wait until Monday, put a USB key in the computer, place an out of order sign on the workstation, and submit a report at http://helpdesk.library.ubc.ca/lsit/general-it-support.
Occasionally, LSIT staff will check their email on the weekend and may be able to retrieve and save the file for the student onto the USB key.
